Lawrence Twp.—A 71 year old Clearfield woman was scammed out of $91,000, according to police.
The Lawrence Twp. Police Department received a report of a phone scam where the female victim sent over $91,000 to someone impersonating a law enforcement agency. The report states the victim was threatened to send the money or face charges.
Police say the incident is still under investigation and remind the public that no law enforcement agency will ever contact the public at home requiring immediate payment and not to release personal information over the phone. Police encourage residents to hang up and call their local law enforcement agency.
