Carrolltown Man Waives Hearing in Aggravated Assault Case

CLEARFIELD – A Carrolltown man is being accused of assaulting a woman in August of last year.

Austin John Gill, 22, is charged by Trooper Michael J. Dandrea of the Punxsutawney-based state police with two counts of felony aggravated assault.

He’s also charged with one count each of misdemeanor simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and make repairs/sell, etc. offensive weapon and one summary.

The charges stem from an altercation that occurred around 2 a.m. Aug. 11, 2019 in Westover Borough, according to the affidavit of probable cause.

Gill allegedly struck the victim in the face with a closed fist while wearing brass knuckles. She suffered several injuries, including a concussion, deviated septum (in her nose) and facial bruising.

Gill waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court. His bail is currently set at $50,000 unsecured.
