Spirits & Street Eats Food Truck Festival Cancelled for 2020

DUBOIS – Another local event has fallen victim to the 2020 coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The second-ever Spirits & Street Eats Food Truck Festival, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Sandy Recreation Park, DuBois, has been cancelled.

The announcement was recently made via a press release to local news media from the Greater DuBois Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development.

The decision was made following a meeting of Event Chairpersons Jodi August, DuBois Chamber, Shawn Arbaugh, Sandy Township manager, and Nick Suplizio, Goodwill Industries, in which they discussed safety options and reviewed current guidelines for outdoor events.

“It’s just too hard to determine what things will look like in October regarding large gatherings, and there’s a lot of pre-planning and expenses that go into this event,” the release stated.

“This decision wasn’t made lightly as we’ve watched this pandemic unfold over the last few months.  We truly fought as long as we could … in hopes that we could help many of the small businesses and musicians who missed out on other fairs and festivals this year.”

Event chairpersons are confident that the 2021 food truck festival will be “bigger and better.”

Any vendor who pre-registered with advance payment for the event will be offered a refund. Any vendor interested in next year should contact the DuBois Chamber at 814-371-5010.
