Railroad Work to Close Curtin Street in Osceola Mills for Two Days

PHILIPSBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that RJ Corman Railroad crews are scheduled to begin replacing the Edendale Road railroad crossing in Osceola Mills Borough Friday, July 10.

Curtin Street will be closed between Phoenix and Walker streets for two days while this work is completed.

Work on this project will be done in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the job site and relevant training.

During the closure, an 11-mile detour using Route 3049 (Edendale Road), Route 350, Route 53 and Route 2051 (Curtin Street) will be in effect.

Work at the crossing will consist of excavating the existing railroad crossing surface, reconstructing the subbase material, constructing and installing the new crossing panel, resurfacing the rail approaches and paving the roadway approaches and crossing surface.

This work is expected to be complete by evening on Saturday, July 11. All work is weather and schedule dependent.

PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in the work zone, remain alert for railroad operators and equipment, approach railroad crossings with care, and to “Always expect a train.”
