Grampian Woman Accused in Animal Cruelty Case

BRADFORD TOWNSHIP – A Grampian woman is being accused of leaving two dogs in her RV without food or water for eight days.

Betsy S. Clark, 42, is charged by Trooper Jonathan W. Uren of the Clearfield-based state police with two counts each of misdemeanor neglect of animals-sustenance/water and cruelty to animals.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, at approximately 8:30 p.m. June 23, Uren was dispatched to a report of dogs left in an RV at an abandoned building in the area of the Woodland-Bigler Highway and Rock Lane in Bradford Township.

Upon arrival, the trooper saw two dogs in the front seat and spoke with a witness who said the animals were left in the RV by a female named “Betsy” on June 15.  Uren then found an inspection sticker with vehicle information and the vehicle came back registered to Clark.

One dog reportedly appeared “skittish and scared” and the vehicle was also unlivable leaking water from its roof. The witness told the trooper that Clark didn’t leave any food or water for the dogs, but that he fed the dogs on June 22.

The animals were transported to the Clearfield County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), according to the affidavit.
