CLEARFIELD – Last week, between 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday morning, someone drove onto the baseball field at the Lawrence Recreation Park, damaging the turf.
At this Tuesday’s meeting, Supervisor Randy Powell said that there are cameras at the park and that the incident was recorded and the video is being reviewed. He said that the person or persons responsible will be prosecuted.
Also, anyone driving through Glen Richey and O’Shanter who uses Polles Road to bypass construction of a box culvert bridge, should be aware that the township police will be watching and citing those driving at an excessive speed.
Polles Road is not an approved detour, but people familiar with the area have been using it, as opposed to the much longer detour suggested by the state.
The township has received complaints about drivers speeding on the road, and Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner said he had a vehicle come up fast behind him on the road and then tailgate.
Roadmaster Ron Woodling was not at the meeting, but he sent information for public notice that the bridge on Coal Hill Road would be closed Thursday for seal coating.
Bids for tar and chipping were opened and the apparent low bid was from Russell Standard at $81,164.01.
Finally, the supervisors expressed appreciation to the township police. Ruffner stated that now is a very difficult time to be a police officer and he believes that most people in the area appreciate and respect local police.
