Lawrence Twp. Residents Reminded Compost Site is for Brush, Grass Clippings and Leaves Only

CLEARFIELD – Residents of Lawrence Township and surrounding areas are reminded that the compost site is for composting materials only, including brush, grass clippings and leaves.

Roadmaster Ron Woodling said people have been leaving garbage and other refuse, contaminating the site.

The work crew will be cleaning the site and cameras will be installed with Woodling promising that the information collected will be used to catch offenders.

He also wanted the public to know that Coal Hill Road between Danvir Country Road and Swede Lane will be closed June 9 for pipe installation. Other similar projects will be taking place in the township until June 10.

Supervisor Randy Powell also said there are rumors going around that the new engine tanker is not working and these rumors are false. He said it is still in new condition.

Bids for a driving surface aggregate dirt and gravel road project on Log Cabin Road were opened and the apparent low bid was from New Enterprise Stone and Lime Co. at $44,655.60, which was accepted by the supervisors.

The township had budgeted $53,482 for the project.

Supervisor Jeremy Ruffner informed the other supervisors and the public that Quest Labs will be setting up a drive-through COVID-19 testing site in the Wal-Mart parking lot June 5.

Tests are by appointment only and will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday with the results mailed to the patient within about a week.

More information can be found at https://corporate.walmart.com/covid19testing.

Police Chief Doug Clark notified the supervisors that one of his officers was called for duty with the National Guard and will be sent to either Philadelphia or Pittsburgh this week.
