Penn State Altoona Encourages Pandemic Support Through #GivingTuesdayNow

ALTOONA – In response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19, GivingTuesday announced a day of giving, generosity, and unity to take place Tuesday, May 5.

The campaign, called #GivingTuesdayNow, encourages communities and individuals to help a neighbor, advocate for an issue, donate or take other actions on behalf of first responders and front-line workers, including non-profits serving the people most affected by the pandemic.

Penn State Health teams are serving patients every day. University researchers are exploring the impacts of the virus and working to develop novel treatments and vaccines. Members of the community are offering services that support first responders and equip local regions.

The University is calling on Penn State alumni, family and friends to support these causes and help students who have been adversely impacted by the disease.

Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y – a community and cultural center in New York City ? GivingTuesday inspires millions of people to give back and support the causes they believe in each year on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving.
