Tri-State League Adds Team in DuBois Starting Summer 2020

DUBOIS – The Tri-State League, a summer collegiate baseball league headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio, awarded DuBois as the newest team in the league starting for the summer 2020 season.

The league consists of six additional teams along with DuBois: Butler Bluesox and Butler Ironbucks from Butler, Pa., Creekside Crocodiles from Youngstown, Ohio, Pittsburgh Pandas and Steel City Blacksox from the Pittsburgh area, and the Toledo Hawks from Toledo, Ohio.

“We’re really excited to be adding DuBois into the league and joining in our mission to provide high quality instruction and teaching during the summer to our collegiate athletes,” said Bob Mingo, one of the league commissioners and coach for Creekside.

“DuBois is such a big baseball town and our teams are looking forward to the experience to play at a top-class facility like Showers Field.”

The DuBois Bucks, title sponsored by Buck’s Pizza, will make-up baseball players from the collegiate levels of NCAA Division I, II and III and other governing bodies such as NAIA or USCAA, as well as eligible, graduating high school seniors.

“This opportunity to support the new baseball team bearing the name Buck’s is a unique opportunity for us and we’re eager, and hopeful, for baseball this summer”, said Josh Benton, co-owner of Buck’s Pizza of DuBois LLC.

The mission of the Tri-State League is to provide continued development and instruction for college baseball players during the summer months when school is out of session and after their respective baseball seasons.

The season schedule will begin in June with the Bucks home schedule slated for seven home dates at Showers Field.

Ticket information, game themes and promotions accustomed to minor league baseball along with group outing and event opportunities, and business sponsorships will be available soon at duboisbucks.com.

Eligible collegiate players and graduating high-school seniors interested in playing for the Bucks can contact Head Coach, Dan Bowman, for team and tryout information at duboisbucks.com.

The league and teams are monitoring the fluid situation of the state’s guidelines and restrictions during the COVID-19 epidemic. The season is scheduled to take place until further notice.
