DUBOIS – What should you do if you think you have COVID-19, the coronavirus?
Medical professionals at Penn Highlands Healthcare say that if you feel sick, you should first call your primary care physician, and be prepared to answer questions about your symptoms.
If you don’t have a PCP, please call 814-375-6644.
Penn Highlands advises that you should not go to your doctor, to Q-Care or to your emergency room. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please contact 911.
Once you have contacted your doctor, they will ask questions about your symptoms and then determine what to do next.
They may have you come into the office, or if they believe you could have the virus, you will be directed to a doctor specifically dealing with COVID-19 via tele-medicine. It was noted that for COVID-19-related calls, there is no charge for tele-medicine.
According to Penn Highlands Healthcare, these calls can be done through the My Health Now app and Q-Care. If you do not have a smartphone, you will be given instructions on how to access the information by telephone.
From that point, medical professionals say it will be determined if you should be tested, or if you should stay home and self-monitor.
