Grampian Lions Discuss Upcoming Events, Activities

GRAMPIAN – The Grampian Lions Club recently met to discuss the club’s upcoming events and activities.

The club will host an Easter Egg Hunt Coloring Contest at the Curwensville Elementary School. Prizes will be awarded at each grade level.

In addition, winners will have their work on display in local businesses and churches to promote the upcoming egg hunt.

The club will hold its Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 4, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Grampian Cen-Clear Center (former elementary school).

The club will also have a pancake and sausage breakfast, from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m., Saturday, April 18 at the Grampian Fire Hall.

It was noted that plans are also in the works for the annual Darrell Spencer Memorial Golf Tournament to be held Saturday, June 13 at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course.

During the meeting, Stephanie Johnson was appointed as the new club secretary for the remainder of the 2019-20 year.

It was announced that the club received the Clearfield County Charitable Foundation grant for 2020, which will benefit its sight and hearing program.

Members agreed to sponsor tickets for the Curwensville Elementary School’s Funfest, which is being held Saturday, March 7.  The club’s “Lion’s Den” games will be made available for the event, and its new Bounce House was rented by Funfest organizers.

It was reported that an LCD Enhanced Acrobat Vision Reader was recently loaned out to a local 14-year-old to assist with his visual needs.

The club’s recent donations include: a local resident (eye glasses); a local family (medical expenses); Grampian Fire Co.; Laurel Hill Trout Farms for Squirrel Tails for Trout children’s fishing derby; Clearfield Area United Way; DuBois Little League Challenger Program; and funds for three baskets for Pennsylvania Lions State Convention raffle.
