State police at Clearfield
- State police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug-related DUI on Tuesday in the area of the Rockton Mountain Highway and Mount Zion Road in Lawrence Township. Upon investigation, a 36-year-old St. Marys man was allegedly found to be under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- State police received a report about a bad check from Oct. 4, 2019. State police say on that date, 43-year-old Brenda Baney from Philipsburg wrote a bad check for $90 to a 44-year-old Brisbin woman. Charges were filed through the district court.
- State police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief Monday on Hill Street in Chester Hill Borough. During the incident, someone allegedly damaged a car belonging to a 54-year-old Philipsburg man.
- State police received a report about a bad check on Jan. 15 from Vison Press in Coalport Borough. As a result, state police cited 30-year-old Amanda McGarvey from Madera through the district court.
- State police received a report about an alleged theft/access device fraud on Jan. 12 on Caleb Street in Woodward Township. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- State police assisted the Lawrence Township police with a traffic stop on Jan. 9 in the area of the Clearfield-Woodland Highway and Post Office Road in Bradford Township. During the stop, a 36-year-old Bigler man, identified as Kevin Gianvito, was found to have an active warrant and he was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine.
- State police received a report about an incident of identity theft Tuesday on McAteer Street in Houtzdale Borough. During the incident, someone allegedly accessed the victim’s personal information and opened multiple accounts in their name.
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred Monday on LaJose Road in Ferguson Township. According to state police, an unknown party convinced the victim to send $500 worth of eBay gift cards. In exchange, he was supposed to receive $90,000; however, he never received any funds in return.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report of possible child neglect Monday that occurred in Rose Township, Jefferson County. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- State police received a report of forgery Jan. 31 in Mahaffey Borough. According to state police, the victim received a bill from a debt collection agency in relation to an account he didn’t open and services he didn’t receive. The investigation is continuing at this time.
State police at Rockview
- State police received a report about a theft from a motor vehicle that occurred sometime Jan. 31-Feb. 1 on North Eagle Valley Road in Boggs Township, Centre County. During the incident, someone allegedly removed a small window on the door, unlocked the vehicle and removed a CB radio. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-355-7545.
- State police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug-related DUI on Feb. 2 in the area of North Seventh and East Spruce streets in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. During the stop, a 16-year-old Osceola Mills boy was allegedly found to be driving under the influence and in possession of a controlled substance.
- State police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug violation Feb. 1 on Interstate 99 north in Benner Township, Centre County. During the stop, troopers detected the odor of marijuana and multiple items were reportedly seized from a 22-year-old Clearfield man’s vehicle. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- State police received a report about a domestic assault Jan. 31 on Catty Nine Trail in Huston Township, Centre County. During the incident, 49-year-old Walter Blake of Julian allegedly struck a woman multiple times in the face and ribs. In addition, state police say he dragged the victim by her hair. Blake was charged with simple assault and harassment through the district court.
- State police received a report about a retail theft Monday at Weis Market in Philipsburg Borough, Centre County. As a result, charges are currently pending against a 39-year-old Philipsburg woman.
Clearfield Borough
- Police responded to an automatic fire alarm at a business on Doctors Drive. Upon arrival on-scene, it was found the alarm was being tested by workers.
- Police were requested to assist the fire department with an open burn ordinance violation at a residence in the 500 block of East Locust Street. The fire department extinguished the fire, and the code enforcement officer handled the violation.
- Police conducted a warrant service on a female at an East Market Street residence. Police say she was able to satisfy the warrant.
Sandy Township
- Police responded to a two-vehicle crash Jan. 31 in Sandy Township. According to police, a vehicle driven by a 56-year-old Sykesville man failed to stop in time to avoid hitting a vehicle stopped for traffic along Route 119 in the area of Beagle Road. No injuries occurred as a result of the crash.
- On Jan. 31, police received a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle. According to police, someone caused damage to a 20-year-old Penfield woman’s vehicle while it was parked at her place of employment. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- Police received a report of an alleged retail theft Feb. 1 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter, DuBois. According to police, employees saw a 44-year-old man taking items from the store without paying for them. He entered a vehicle in the parking lot and it was observed traveling toward the exit when it was stopped by police. Two occupants told police the man had been with them but left the vehicle and the merchandise. The investigation is continuing at this time.
- On Feb. 1, police were contacted by a 34-year-old woman who reported that her vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer, as she was turning onto Quality Way. Moderate damage and no injuries were reported.
- On Feb. 1, police received a report about a male hitch-hiking in the middle of Rich Highway. However, he was gone upon police arrival.
- On Feb. 2, police received a report from a 64-year-old Treasure Lake man who stated that while traveling on Clear Run Road, he rounded a curve and traveled off the roadway, striking a tree. No injuries and moderate damage occurred as a result of the crash.
