CLARION — The Curwensville Golden Tide wrestling team headed to Clarion on Tuesday night to face the Clarion Bobcats and only five matches were wrestled.
The Tide raised their record to 9-8 after receiving seven forfeits, two falls and a major decision. The Tide lost two matches and there were two weight classes with neither squad fielding a wrestler.
Clarion dropped to 1-5 with the loss.
At 126 freshman Nik Fegert (11-13) pinned Zack Keihl (2-4) in 2:55 and at 152 senior Adam Straw (10-14) pinned Caleb Edmonds (2-8) in 3:56.
Picking up an 11-3 major decision for the visitors was senior Nick Holbert (5-6) at 195 over Logan Edmonds (2-10)
Receiving forfeits were Jake Carfley (20-7) at 106, Zach Shaffer (9-11) at 132, Mitchell Sutika (8-10) at 138, Zach Holland (23-0) at 145, Duane Brady (16-7) at 182, Gage Roos (8-12) at 220, and Brennen Moore (13-9) at 285.
The Tide will next be in action on Thursday when they host the West Branch Warriors.
On Saturday the Tide will participate in the District 9 Team Championships at DuBois High School. The number five seeded Tide will face Johnsonburg, the number four seed at 10:00 am.
