One Person Dead Following Head-on Collision in Ferguson Twp., State Police Say

FERGUSON TOWNSHIP – One person is dead following a head-on collision Friday morning in Ferguson Township, Clearfield County.

According to Clearfield-based state police, the collision occurred at 6:50 a.m. on state Route 729, approximately one mile from the Lumber City Highway.

State police say a pick-up truck driven by 29-year-old Michael Rose of Woodland was traveling south while another truck driven by 30-year-old Nathaniel Canfield of Curwensville was traveling north.

Rose reportedly failed to negotiate a right-hand turn in the roadway, causing the collision. Canfield’s vehicle subsequently caught fire.

Canfield succumbed to his injuries at the scene, state police say. The investigation is continuing into the crash.

Troopers were assisted by the Grampian, Mahaffey and Curwensville fire companies, Curwensville EMS, PennDOT and the Clearfield County Coroner’s Office.
