UPDATE: Super Load Arrives in North Central Region, Traffic Impacts Expected

RIDGWAY – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is reminding motorists to be alert for traffic impacts as the Yankee Dryer super load, which arrived in Elk County this afternoon, will be making its way through the north-central region of Pennsylvania over the next few days.

The super load left the Port of Erie Thursday, Dec. 5, and has traversed portions of Erie, Crawford, Venango, Clarion, Forest and Elk counties. It stopped approximately three-and-a-half miles north of Ridgway Borough along Route 948 in Elk County and will remain there overnight.

Plans call for the load to continue along Route 948 into Ridgway Borough tomorrow. Traffic in the Ridgway area, particularly around Main Street, is encouraged to use alternate routes.

After passing through Ridgway, the load will continue onto Route 219 south and into Clearfield County via Route 153 south. It is expected to arrive in Lock Haven early next week.

A complete list of the planned route from Erie to Lock Haven can be found at www.penndot.gov/district2.

Flaggers will be positioned at specific locations and intersections along the super load route to assist with traffic control during counterflow movements.

Drivers will need to remain alert for the slow-moving operation, which will travel at speeds lower than 15 miles-per-hour.
