DuBois Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges

JOHNSTOWN – A DuBois man pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in federal court on Friday, reported GANT News partner WJAC-TV.

On Nov. 8, 2017, Darren J. Salgado, 34, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Johnstown on charges of distribution and possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment, on Oct. 17, 2016, Salgado knowingly distributed pictures and videos in individual computer graphic files depicting a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

On June 28, 2017, Salgado possessed images, which were produced using prepubescent minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct.  The files were shipped or transported in interstate or foreign commerce.

Judge Kim Gibson, U.S. District Court, Western District of Pennsylvania, has scheduled Salgado to appear for sentencing in April of 2020, WJAC-TV reported.

The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 40 years in prison, a fine of $500,000 or both, according to a previous press release issued by the Department of Justice.

The Department of Homeland Security, Homeland Security Investigations, conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
