State police at Clearfield
- State police received a report about a theft that occurred sometime Oct. 17-18 on Graham Station Road in Morris Township. During the incident, someone allegedly broke into the victim’s garage and stole a Polaris all-terrain vehicle and a Yamaha ATV. State police say they also made entry into the victim’s residence and stole numerous electronic items. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-857-3800.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police reported that an accidental shooting occurred Tuesday on Main Street in Newburg Borough, Clearfield County. According to state police, a 32-year-old Mahaffey man accidentally shot himself in the left leg, just below his knee, with a 9mm pistol while cleaning his firearms. He suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Altoona Hospital for treatment.
Lawrence Township
- Police received a report about a psychological emergency Oct. 17 on Collins Avenue in Clearfield. According to police, a male made threats to harm himself, and also stabbed himself multiple times in his abdominal area with a box cutter. He fled the residence prior to police arrival, and local police conducted a search of the area. Police then received information that the male was at the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital where he was being aggressive. Upon arrival, officers were eventually able to calm the male who was admitted for an evaluation. Charges will be filed against the male for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
- Police received a report of access device fraud Oct. 13 at the Peebles store in Clearfield. During the incident, a 39-year-old Woodland man allegedly used the victim’s store credit card without permission. Charges are currently pending at this time.
Sandy Township
- On Friday police were contacted by a New York man who requested for officers to check the welfare of his 47-year-old wife. He said she’d pulled over at Pilot to rest, but he was unable to get in touch with her. Officers located the woman in her parked van, and learned that she was OK.
- Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief Friday in Treasure Lake. According to police, a resident said someone damaged a light fixture in his yard and smashed a pumpkin in his neighbor’s yard.
- Police received a report about a disturbance, which involved three men, Friday in the parking lot of the Hampton Inn. Upon arrival, officers learned that one man had entered the lobby of the hotel. Officers located the man and handled the situation without incident.
- Police received a report about a domestic disturbance Friday at a Lesser Antilles Court residence in Treasure Lake. Upon arrival, officers located a 51-year-old woman who stated she’d engaged in an argument with her husband over a misplaced remote. Officers handled the situation without incident.
- On Friday police were contacted by a 33-year-old Sandy Township woman who reported that her storage unit on the Beeline Highway was broken into and several items were missing. The investigation continues.
- On Friday police were contacted by a 21-year-old DuBois woman who reported she had accidently left her wallet near the self-checkout in Wal-Mart. Store employees were able to locate the wallet via store video. The investigation continues.
- Police received a report about a minor motor vehicle crash Saturday in the Commons parking lot. According to police, a 64-year-old DuBois woman accidently hit her gas pedal instead of her brake, which caused her vehicle to hit another vehicle. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
- Police responded to a reported false alarm Saturday at Kay Jewelers.
- Police received a report about an incident of retail theft Saturday at Wal-Mart. During the incident, store employees allegedly observed a male and female concealing merchandise. When they attempted to leave the store without paying for the items, employees confronted them and they fled the scene.
- Police responded to a reported motorcycle crash Saturday in the DuBois Mall parking lot. According to police, a 27-year-old Treasure Lake man experienced an issue with his motorcycle’s throttle, which caused it to throw him off. He was transported to the DuBois Penn Highlands Hospital for treatment.
- On Saturday police received a report about a disorderly male at the Holiday Inn Express. According to police, he became belligerent towards employees when he wasn’t permitted to use a corporate credit card to check in because he didn’t have written permission from the owner. When police arrived on-scene, the male was gone, but he was later found at the Clarion Inn. Officers spoke to his boss who confirmed the male was approved to use the credit card, and the situation was handled without incident.
- Police received a complaint regarding loud music Saturday at the warehouse on DuBois Rockton Road. Upon arrival, officers couldn’t hear any music coming from the building.
- Police received a report about a woman smashing cars with a baseball bat Sunday on Hanes Drive. According to police, several witnesses said the woman exited her apartment and started smashing cars. At one point, she allegedly attempted to choke another woman when she attempted to stop her. Officers located the woman at her apartment; charges are currently pending at this time.
