State police at Clearfield
- State police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug violation Oct. 2 in the area of the Curwensville-Grampian Highway and Melody Road in Penn Township. According to the report, a 29-year-old Grampian man was operating his vehicle with a suspended driver’s license. Inside the vehicle, a trooper saw drug paraphernalia in plain view. A subsequent search allegedly turned up paraphernalia and a small amount of methamphetamine. Charges were filed through the district court.
- State police received a report about a hit-and-run crash that occurred Saturday on Bailey Road in Curwensville. According to state police, a white sedan struck a 2013 Mitsubishi Lancer; the driver then fled south. The investigation is ongoing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact state police at 814-857-3800.
State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred between Oct. 3 and Oct. 9 on Cemetery Hill Road in Snyder Township, Jefferson County. During the incident, someone allegedly attempted to pry open a camper door. While they were unsuccessful, state police say there was $200 worth of damage done to the door. - State police received a report about an assault Oct. 8 on the Bennetts Valley Highway in Huston Township, Clearfield County. During the initial investigation, it was found a Penfield couple had been engaged in a verbal argument over the use of a friend’s vehicle, and that it turned physical. Further, 46-year-old Tina Stewart allegedly struck 36-year-old Ryan Sprague on both sides of his head with a wooden board, causing welts and redness. State police say they also saw a scratch/claw mark on the left side of his neck and a red mark on the left side of his torso, and Stewart had a scratch and redness on the front of her neck. Stewart was taken into custody for simple assault, and arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jerome Nevling with her bail set at $20,000 unsecured. Sprague will be charged with harassment through the office of MDJ Pat Ford where proceedings will continue.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police reported a drug-related DUI that occurred Friday in the area of South Fourth and Gordon streets in Reynoldsville Borough, Jefferson County. During a traffic stop, a known male was arrested for DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia. Charges are currently pending.
Clearfield Borough
- Police arrested two wanted persons at a North Fifth Street residence.
- Police received a report about a possible stolen vehicle from a rental company.
- Police received a report about profanity that was drawn with chalk on a sidewalk
- Police encountered a wanted female who reportedly had drug paraphernalia on her person.
- Police received a report about an intoxicated male. Upon arrival, he was located and placed under arrest for the incident.
- Police received a report about an alleged assault on Williams Street. The investigation is ongoing.
- Police assisted with traffic control for the Clearfield Pumpkin Run.
- Police located a black backpack containing a construction hardhat and miscellaneous clothing on Nichols Street. Its owner may contact the Clearfield Borough police to retrieve it.
- Police responded to a medical emergency on West Market Street.
- Police conducted a vehicle stop that resulted in a DUI on River Road.
- Police located an intoxicated male on Williams Street. He was provided transportation back to his residence.
- Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on South Front Street. No injuries were reported as a result.
- Police received a report about a lost Chihuahua that’s black in color. According to police, the dog is wearing a blue collar with silver bones on it as well as four tags. Anyone with information is asked to contact the station.
Lawrence Township
- Police responded to a reported hit-and-run Thursday in the Clearfield Wal-Mart parking lot. While en route to the scene, information was received about a motor vehicle crash on Industrial Park Road, and police say the vehicle description matched that of the suspect vehicle in the hit-and-run. Upon arrival, it was found that the driver, a 65-year-old Montana man, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for a medical examination. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police received a report about a burglary/theft that occurred Sept. 28 on Carrs Hill Road in Lawrence Township. During the incident, someone allegedly stole numerous tools and building materials from a residence. Anyone with information is asked to contact township police.
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a DUI and warrant service Thursday on the Clearfield-Shawville Highway. According to police, contact was made and it was found an occupant, identified as 27-year-old Ashley Bowman of Grassflat, had an active, drug-related warrant in the state of Maryland. She was taken into custody and to county jail. In addition, police allegedly found the driver was under the influence of drugs, and they were taken to the hospital for a legal blood draw.
- Police received a report about an incident of public drunkenness Thursday on the Clearfield-Woodland Highway near Lock Haven Clearfield. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with 34-year-old Autumn Hall of Williamsport, who police say was intoxicated and had a container of alcohol. In addition, police say she used profanity while on the phone with her ex-boyfriend. She was found to have an outstanding warrant in Lycoming County, was taken into custody and put in county jail on summary charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. She was later released when she pleaded guilty to her non-traffic citations.
- Police responded to a report of a medical emergency Friday at the Clearfield County Jail.
- Police received a trespassing/suspicious person complaint Saturday in the area of Kerr Avenue and Palmer Street. While on-scene, a witness alerted officers to a female walking around with a large machete blade. She was subsequently located and dropped the weapon without incident; upon investigation, it was allegedly determined she was under the influence of controlled substances. She was not wanted at the residence, so police took her into custody and she was housed in county jail on a probation violation. Charges were filed against the female for public intoxication.
- Police responded to a reported motor vehicle crash Saturday near the Toasted Monkey in Hyde. According to police, the vehicles pulled off near Country Club Road, and it was determined a 23-year-old Curwensville man was at fault for the crash. He was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests. Police had the man lodged in county jail to become sober, and charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug violation Saturday on state Route 879 near Sheetz in Clearfield. During a traffic stop, an officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Both occupants were requested to exit and during a search, police allegedly found a small container used to store marijuana and a smoking pipe. A 40-year-old State College man admitted the drug paraphernalia belonged to him. The driver – a 35-year-old Clearfield man – will be cited for an expired inspection; the State College man will be charged for possessing drug paraphernalia.
- Police received a report about an unconscious male driver Sunday in the drive-thru lane at McDonald’s, located off Interstate 80, in Clearfield. Upon arrival, contact was made with the 24-year-old Texas man, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. He was subsequently transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for the purpose of a legal blood draw, and was released to a sober person. Charges are currently pending at this time.
Curwensville Borough
- Police received a report about a possible theft of a tablet out of a vehicle along Schofield Street.
- Police received a noise complaint along Schofield Street. Further, police spoke to those responsible and they agreed to keep the noise down.
- Police received a report about a suspicious vehicle at Goodman’s Foodliner. Upon arrival, police found it wasn’t criminal in nature.
- Police located a suspicious vehicle near the Curwensville Area School’s rear. However, it was found that it belonged to a surveyor working in the area.
- Police responded to a reported alarm at the Curwensville Moose. Upon arrival, police found an employee was able to enter the correct passcode to terminate the alarm.
- Police stopped a tractor-trailer driver, along Schofield Street, that had caused property damage.
- Police received a report about an abandoned vehicle at Goodman’s Foodliner. However, it was gone upon police arrival on-scene.
- Police received a noise complaint in the area of Gilbert Street and Bailey Road. The caller reported that dogs were barking, and that an anti-pest control device was too loud.
- Police received a report about a domestic in the area of Center Street. Upon arrival, it was learned that the incident was verbal in nature and it was handled on-scene.
DuBois City
- Police were dispatched to a business Friday in the 700 block of East DuBois Avenue. According to police, a witness said two unknown males parked in the lot, and one punched the other a few times in the face. Then, they left. The investigation continues.
- Police were dispatched to a bicycle-versus-vehicle crash Friday in DuBois City. According to police, a motorist failed to observe a male bicyclist and struck him. No injuries were reported, and police assisted with the exchange of information.
- Police received a report about a disorderly male Friday in the area of Hoover Avenue and Liberty Boulevard. Upon arrival, contact was made and the male was advised to cease his actions.
- Police received a report about a possible break-in Saturday at a Hubert Street residence. Upon arrival, contact was made with the caller and a search was done of the area with negative results. Police provided extra patrols but didn’t observe any suspicious individuals.
- Police responded to an activated alarm Saturday at a business on North Franklin Street. Upon arrival on-scene, officers located several unlocked doors but found everything to be OK inside. Police subsequently secured the building and cleared the scene.
- Police received a report about an assault Saturday at a business in the 300 block of West DuBois Avenue. Upon investigation, it was found two males were at fault; however, neither wanted to pursue charges. Police cleared the scene without further incident.
