DUBOIS – A blood drive is being held in memory of a DuBois City and Sandy Township Police Officer, Patrick Straub, who was killed in a motor vehicle crash last year.
Hosted at AmServ LTD/DuSan Community Ambulance, it’ll take place from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. Sept. 13. The ambulance service is located at 835 Beaver Dr., DuBois.
According to The American Red Cross Web site, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. It is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses and traumatic injuries.
“Whether a patient receives whole blood, red cells, platelets or plasma, this life-saving care starts with one person making a generous donation.”
According to the Web site, one person’s blood drive donation can potentially save up to three lives. And each year, an estimated 6.8 million people in the United States donate blood.
