State police at DuBois
- State police received a report about an incident of stalking and harassment that occurred between April 1 and Aug. 11 on Draucker’s Bottom Road in Union Township. During the incident, an 18-year-old Luthersburg man was allegedly harassed or stalked by a known 84-year-old man and 79-year-old woman, both of DuBois, and a known 61-year-old Luthersburg man. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
State police at Punxsutawney
- State police conducted a sobriety checkpoint from 10 p.m. Saturday through 3 a.m. Sunday on Route 36 in Young Township. During the checkpoint, troopers made one DUI arrest, as well as issued eight citations and 34 written warnings for various traffic violations.
Clearfield Borough
- Police were notified about a lost wallet that was located along state Route 879.
- Police received a report about a drug-related incident on Daisy Street. The investigation is ongoing.
- Police responded to a report about a tree that had fallen onto a house. Upon arrival, police found everyone to be safe.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with identifying and detaining a male for whom there was a warrant.
- Police were notified about an incident of harassment.
- Lawrence Township police were assisted with two suspicious females inside a vehicle at McDonald’s.
Lawrence Township
- On Saturday police located a vehicle that displayed a forged inspection sticker in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Clearfield. Upon investigation, it was found the driver, 41-year-old Andrew Knepp of Mineral Springs, had allegedly altered the sticker and operated the vehicle while under suspension. It was also found Knepp had active warrants through the department. Through further investigation, the officer found Knepp’s passenger, 40-year-old Nicole Gaines of Woodland, had an active warrant through the county’s Sheriff’s Office. She was also allegedly found in possession of drug paraphernalia. Knepp and Gaines were housed in county jail with additional charges pending.
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in an alcohol-related DUI on Saturday on Park Avenue Extension in Lawrence Township. Upon investigation, a 44-year-old Clearfield man was found to be under the influence of alcohol; he was subsequently asked to submit to a legal blood draw, which he refused. He was ultimately released to a sober person; charges were filed through the district court.
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in an alcohol-related DUI on Sunday along state Route 879 near Carns Equipment. Contact was subsequently made with a 46-year-old Clearfield woman who was allegedly under the influence of alcoholic beverages to the degree she was incapable of safely operating a vehicle. However, she refused to provide a legal blood sample and was charged with DUI and various traffic offenses.
- Police conducted a warrant service Saturday in the 200 block of Maple Avenue in Lawrence Township. According to police, 24-year-old Justin Martell of Clearfield was found hiding inside a residence. He was taken into custody for his failure to appear on previous drug charges. During a search of Martell’s person at the county jail, he was allegedly found in possession of a marijuana pipe. Charges are currently pending with relation to this incident.
- Police conducted a traffic stop Sunday on Industrial Park Road in Lawrence Township. Contact was made with the driver, a 29-year-old Curwensville man, who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol. When police attempted to identify the passenger, he provided false information to law enforcement but was ultimately identified as Bobby Martell, 52, of Shawville. Police say Bobby Martell was found to have an active warrant, was resistant when officers attempted to take him into custody and was found in possession of methamphetamine. Because the Curwensville man was under the influence, he was taken to the hospital for a legal blood draw; however, charges are currently pending against both men.
- Police received a report about incidents of retail theft that occurred between July 3 and July 31 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Clearfield. Upon investigation, it was found a 29-year-old Winburne woman, Briana Grove, allegedly took merchandise without paying for it on multiple occasions via the self-checkout. The total value of the stolen merchandise was $262.48, police say. Charges have been filed through the district court.
Curwensville Borough
- Clearfield Borough police were assisted with attempting to serve a warrant on a known Curwensville male.
- Clearfield-based state police were assisted with a suspicious person incident along the Curwensville-Grampian Highway. Police say a female was reportedly walking in the middle of the roadway.
- Police took a female into custody after she went inside a home uninvited. She was reportedly found to be under the influence and told police a clown gave her permission to be there because it’s Halloween.
DuBois City
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run crash Wednesday near the intersection of DuBois Avenue and First Street. According to police, the vehicle was driven from the scene with flat tires and was reportedly “all over the road.” It was last seen turning onto DuBois Street and heading south toward Giant Eagle. Police say they followed a trail of fluid and items that had fallen from the vehicle; a wheel well was also located at the intersection of Osburn Avenue and DuBois Street. The tread from the tire peeled off the vehicle at the intersection with Sandy Street, and the fluid trail ended just beyond Fuller Avenue. A short time later, state police located the suspect vehicle parked at a West Long Avenue residence. When police spoke with the male driver, he appeared to be under the influence of something but related he hadn’t been drinking. Police say the male was drooling, had slurred speech and “pinned” pupils. He was advised of the property damage at the Harley Davidson Shop. Charges will be filed against the man for the hit-and-run.
- Police assisted state parole officers with the detention of a male on Wednesday. He was taken into custody without incident.
- Police met with two motorists Wednesday regarding a non-reportable crash that had occurred in the 100 block of North Brady Street. No injuries were reported, and towing wasn’t required. Police assisted with the exchange of information.
- On Friday police received a report about juveniles in possession of a lit blow torch in the area of South Brady Street. Upon arrival, it was found they had a lit candle, not a blow torch. Police asked the juveniles to put out the candle, which they did.
- Police received a report about juveniles who were damaging a sign Friday in the area of High Street and West Scribner Avenue. Upon arrival, police were unable to locate any juveniles in this area and there wasn’t any damage observed to signs.
- Police received a report about a male sleeping inside a truck Friday in a business parking lot on First Street. According to police, the caller said the truck’s doors were open and it was running. Upon arrival, police secured the man’s truck and transported him to his residence where he was released to his wife.
- Police received a report about a possible break-in Friday at a residence in the 100 block of Lane Street. Upon arrival, officers searched the interior and exterior of the residence, and determined everything was OK. Sandy Township police assisted at the scene.
- Police responded to a report of a motion alarm Saturday in the 500 block of Reams Street. Upon arrival, everything was found to be OK, and no further action was necessary.
- While on routine patrol Saturday, police observed a male urinating in the area of Bush Court. When contact was made, he told police he was out walking his dog and thought he was going to urinate in his pants. Police obtained the male’s information, then advised him to use an indoor restroom in the future.
- Police received a report about a burglary that occurred within the last month at a residence in the 200 block of South Brady Street. According to police, several items were missing from the home and garage. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
