CURWENSVILLE – Curwensville residents should mark their calendars if they’re looking to have a fun time for a good cause.
At Monday’s meeting, the Curwensville Borough Council announced the Isaiah Pentz Memorial Carnival will be held from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Aug. 17.
The carnival will celebrate the memory of 7-year-old Isaiah John Pentz, who passed away June 15. The carnival will include games, face painting, food and a Chinese auction.
All proceeds will go towards building the all-inclusive playground equipment for Irvin Park.
Secretary Theresa Bracken said the inclusive swing for the playground has been ordered and is expected to be delivered in six to eight weeks.
In other business, Street Crew Foreman Dennis Curry said the 2004 mower has broken beyond the crew’s ability to repair it.
He said he got estimates on a new mower of a similar make and model to the present mower at a cost of about $2,550 with a five-year warranty. The council voted to approve the purchase.
Curry also reported that milling and patch work on Chestnut Street and holes on Meadow Street were being repaired with cold patch.
Also, at the meeting, the council approved a motion to pay the pension contribution for 2020 in the amount of $32,982 from the general fund and to pay the monthly bills.
