State police at Punxsutawney
- State police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief that occurred Thursday on Solley Road in Burnside Township. During the incident, someone allegedly spray-painted vulgar language onto a red Chevrolet Blazer and roadway in front of the victim’s residence.
Clearfield Borough
- Police were dispatched to CNB Bank, main branch, for an activated panic alarm. Upon arrival, it was learned that it was a false alarm.
- Police responded to a non-reportable crash in the area of North Second and East Locust streets. Upon investigation, it was learned that an ATA bus had struck a parked car.
- Police were dispatched to the area of Bigler Avenue for a male sitting in a wheelchair in the middle of the roadway. According to police, the elderly male had both lanes of traffic blocked. He was removed from the roadway and transported to Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
- Police were requested to conduct a welfare check on an elderly female at her residence. It was found that the female was not home and was out grocery shopping.
- Police were dispatched to a Bigler Avenue residence, where a male was “coming off” drugs and possibly armed with a handgun. According to police, the male tried fleeing from the rear of the residence but was taken into custody by officers and transported to Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital for a mental health evaluation. Lawrence Township police assisted with the incident.
- Police were dispatched to Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital for a 302 patient who had walked out. However, police say that the male returned and no further action needed to be taken.
- Police were dispatched to the parking lot of Mary’s Place for a male who was possibly passed out in his car. Upon arrival, police determined the male was not under the influence and was just asleep. Police also say that it appeared as though the male lives in his car.
- Police assisted state parole at an East Locust residence. One male was subsequently taken into custody, according to police.
- Police were dispatched to a West Locust Street residence for a physical domestic. A female reportedly was struck by her boyfriend, and she had suffered injuries to her face. The incident is pending further investigation.
- Police observed a male walking in the area of Leavy Avenue and South Second Street. According to police, he appeared to be manifestly under the influence of controlled substances. It was found that the male was also wanted by state parole. Due to the level of intoxication, he was transported to Penn Highlands Clearfield Hospital.
- Police responded to the area of Bigler Road for an incident of harassment. A male reportedly exited his truck and confronted another group of males. At this point, police say both parties began yelling at one another until the male got into his truck and left. Both parties agreed not to contact one another and also declined to press charges.
Lawrence Township
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug violation Sunday in the area of state Route 879 and Park Avenue. A search of the vehicle reportedly turned up prescription narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Charges are currently pending at this time.
- Police conducted a traffic stop that resulted in a drug arrest and warrant service Friday in the area of the Clearfield-Shawville Highway and Airport Road. According to police, it was found the driver, a 32-year-old Clearfield man, had a suspended license. He was known to police due to prior incidents and arrests, and was asked for consent to search his vehicle. A subsequent search turned up suspected methamphetamine; his passenger, Christopher Hanes, 33, also of Clearfield, was found to have an active warrant. The driver was lodged in county jail on a probation violation, and Hanes was arraigned on his warrant. Charges are currently pending against the driver for drug possession and related offenses.
DuBois City
- Police arrested a male Wednesday following an alleged Protection from Abuse order violation.
- Police received a report about two dogs that were inside a vehicle Wednesday at the Medical Arts building. According to police, all four windows were down two to three inches, and the dogs didn’t appear to be in any distress.
- On Wednesday police received a report about the alleged theft of medication on South Main Street. The incident is pending further investigation.
- Police received a report about a disturbance Wednesday at the DuBois Penn Highlands Hospital. According to police, two males were arguing in the emergency room and asked to go outside. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with the males in the ambulance entrance. Both parties were advised to be civil with each other.
- Police were requested to meet a father and his eight-year-old son Wednesday outside of the station. The father requested for officers to explain to his son the dangers of wandering off on his own.
- Police received a “weapons call” Thursday near the intersection of West Washington Avenue and South Brady Street. Upon arrival on-scene, officers found a knife on the sidewalk that appeared to have been dropped. Police retrieved the knife and disposed of it.
- Police responded to a non-reportable motor vehicle crash Thursday on South Brady Street. According to police, the driver of a silver Chrysler said she had a tire blowout, and her vehicle was stopped when it was rear-ended by another vehicle. Because there wasn’t any damage, she told the other driver she could leave. Police offered assistance with a tow truck, then cleared the scene.
- Police received a report Thursday about a hole in the bridge behind the Parkview Professional Center. Upon arrival, officers found a rotted board, which had a hole in it. Police sent a work order to the city garage, as the hole wasn’t large enough to pose an immediate safety concern.
- Police received a report about a suspicious male Thursday at the DuBois Penn Highlands Hospital. According to police, security believed a juvenile appeared to be attempting to enter vehicles in the parking lot. Upon arrival on-scene, the male was described as wearing a white shirt and pajama pants; he was last seen running toward Forest Avenue. Officers checked the area but had negative results.
- Police received a report about a hit-and-run crash Thursday at Martin’s Grocery on Hoover Avenue. Upon arrival on-scene, it was learned a male had parked his vehicle and entered the store. When he returned, he discovered a dent in his passenger’s side rear door. However, police reviewed surveillance footage and determined this didn’t occur in the parking lot.
- Police received a report about an incident of criminal mischief Friday at a Clinton Avenue residence. During the incident, police say several juveniles threw rocks at the house, causing damage. Police spoke with the juveniles and the landlord concerning the situation, which they planned to work out themselves.
- Police received a report about a disorderly juvenile Friday on Garfield Avenue. Upon arrival, police spoke with the juvenile and were able to calm things down.
- Police received a report about an attempted break-in Saturday at an apartment on South Franklin Street. However, upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with a couple and it was found this was actually a mental health issue. A male told police everything was OK, and he’d keep an eye on the female.
- On Saturday police were flagged down and requested to check the welfare of a female on Hubert Street. When police arrived at the residence, it was found the female wasn’t at home.
- Police received a report about a two-vehicle crash Saturday in a business parking lot in the 700 block of East DuBois Avenue. Upon arrival, police assisted with the exchange of information and determined the crash was non-reportable.
- Police received a report about juveniles trespassing Saturday on West Long Avenue. Upon arrival, police were unable to locate anyone there.
- Police received a report about a male hitchhiker Saturday in the area of First Street. However, he was gone upon police arrival.
- Police received a report about a suspicious female Sunday at the ball fields. Witnesses told police the female claimed she’d won a 50/50, but a drawing hadn’t been done yet. Police made contact with the female and asked her to leave the area.
- Police were requested to check the welfare of two juveniles Sunday in the 200 block of McCloyd Terrace. Upon arrival, it was found they were fighting over money; they were separated and police cleared the scene.
- Police received a report about a disorderly male Sunday in the 300 block of Kuntz Street. Upon arrival, it was found this was a civil matter over belongings and the male agreed to leave.
- Police received a report about a possible domestic Sunday in the 100 block of South Franklin Street. Upon arrival, it was found to be a verbal argument, the couple agreed to calm down and police cleared the scene.
