EXPLOREJEFFERSON: Two Motorcyclists Crash on Route 28; Brookville Woman Life-Flighted to Allegheny General

REDBANK TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – A Brookville woman was life-flighted to Allegheny General Hospital after two motorcycles crashed on state Route 28.

According to Clarion-based state police, 50-year-old Wilda M. Grantz of Brookville and 57-year-old Douglas E. Dunkle of Clarion were involved in the crash.

Police say it occurred on Brookville Street (SR 28), just south of Maple Street, in Redbank Township, Clarion County, on Wednesday, July 24, around 6:53 p.m.

According to police, a 2003 Yamaha V Star 650 driven by Grantz was traveling north on SR 28 in the right lane and struck the back of Dunkle’s 2001 Honda 750.

The Yamaha then ricocheted off the Honda to the left side, and Grantz started to lose control of the motorcycle.

The Yamaha swerved back to the right, and Grantz laid over the motorcycle.

Dunkle also lost control of his Honda and laid it over just ahead of the Yamaha.

Grantz suffered a head injury and was life-flighted to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment. She was not using a helmet.

Dunkle suffered suspected minor injuries, but he refused transport. He was using a motorcycle helmet.

Grantz was charged with a traffic violation through District Magistrate Office 18-3-04.

Clarion Hospital EMS and Hawthorne Fire Department assisted at the scene.
