Clearfield Woman Accused of Taking Drugs into CCJ

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield woman has been accused of taking drugs into the Clearfield County Jail.

Candace Gillingham, 30, is currently facing charges for possession of contraband, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to law enforcement.

The charges stem from incidents that occurred Tuesday on Graham Street, then later at the Clearfield County Jail, according to a news release issued by Officer Zachary Cowan of the Lawrence Township police.

Officers initially received a report about a suspicious person on private property in the area of the Child Advocacy Center of Clearfield County. Upon arrival on-scene, contact was made with a female who was seated near the center’s shed without permission.

Upon investigation, Cowan learned the female had provided a false name and she was ultimately identified as Gillingham. It was also discovered that there were three active warrants out against Gillingham.

When she was taken into custody, a search of Gillingham’s person and property turned up syringes, one spoon with residue and multiple plastic bags with residue, Cowan said. She was subsequently lodged in county jail.

After police departed from the jail, a call was received to return because Gillingham was found with contraband. She allegedly had a plastic bottle hidden in her undergarments/shorts area that contained buprenorphine and crystal methamphetamine.
