CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County is considering a petition to relocate a polling place in Bigler Township.
At Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting, it was announced citizens had petitioned for the polling place to be relocated from the township building to the Madera Fire Co.’s social hall.
Chief Clerk Lisa McFadden said Bigler Township has created a police force, and it utilizes part of the township building.
Plus, McFadden said the fire company has more parking available for voters that would outweigh any possible concerns.
Commissioner Mark B. McCracken said because a petition was received, the board was doing its due diligence and would effectuate the change, if no objections were received.
Any citizens with questions or concerns have until July 8 to submit them to the Clearfield County Elections Office.
In other business, the commissioners:
- announced the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has sent a “pre-denial” letter to PA Waste with regards to the proposed Camp Hope Run Landfill in Boggs Township.
- approved Family Center and Promoting Responsible Fatherhood extension application and pass-through agreements.
- accepted the resignation of Rodney Siple from the Curwensville Lake Authority. Anyone interested in filling the vacancy is asked to contact the commissioners’ office.
- announced two vacancies on the Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority. Interested persons should contact the commissioners’ office or CCSWA Director Jodi Brennan.
- approved the execution of an engagement letter with Zelenkofske Axelrod LLC to perform the county audit.
- approved a copier lease with Canon/BMP Systems for a copier to be used by the Office of Planning and Controller.
- approved the following liquid fuel allocations: New Washington Borough ($3,000); Brady Township ($5,643.14); Boggs Township ($4,382.56); Cooper Township ($5,457.36); Ferguson Township ($4,551.50); Goshen Township ($3.450.02); Greenwood Township ($3,522.57); Huston Township ($4,198.65); Karthaus Township ($3,332.94); Morris Township ($4,510.89) and Union Township ($4,250.82).
- approved 10 new hires; one employee transfer; two employee separations/retirements; and one employee leave.
- approved the minutes from the previous meeting held June 11.
- approved the bills as presented by the Controller’s Office.
