Section of Route 2012 in Ferguson Twp. to Close for Pipe Work

Detour will be in place starting July 1

FERGUSON TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced that pipe replacement work on Route 2012 (New Millport Road) in Ferguson Township is scheduled to start Monday, July 1.

A section of Route 2012 between Maple Sugar and Norris roads will be closed, and an official detour will be in place from July 1 through July 12.

A new, larger pipe will replace the existing pipe that spans Little Clearfield Creek near the intersection of Norris Road and Route 2012 (New Millport Road).

Starting July 1, motorists will follow an official detour using Route 2012, Route 729, Route 3022 (Ansonville Road) and Route 3007 (Douglas Road). Drivers familiar with the area may take alternate routes.

PennDOT anticipates reopening the road to traffic by July 12 but will lift the closure earlier if work progress allows. All work will be done by PennDOT Clearfield County Maintenance.

The overall project involves excavation, removal of the existing pipe, placement of the new, larger pipe, backfilling, approach paving, reconstruction of the roadway shoulders, drainage improvements and guiderail installation.

PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution in and around work zones, follow official detour signs, obey posted speed limits and always buckle up.
