HYDE — Hunter Dixon pitched a three-hitter and the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team collected 12 hits in four at-bats for an 11-1 Mercy Rule win over Curwensville at the Bison Sports Complex Thursday evening.
The Chiefs, now 2-1 in the Jefferson County League, scored six runs in the first inning on two walks and half of their hits, Dixon capping the rally with a two-run single. Hayden Williams and Eli Glass drove in the first two runs with singles.
Harrison Peacock’s two-run double, the Chiefs’ lone extra base hit, made it 8-0 in the second inning.
Clearfield set up the early finish with three runs in the third on RBI singles by Kyle Elensky and Williams and a sacrifice fly by Glass.
Williams singled three times, while Peacock, Dixon, Elensky and Seth Bumbarger had two hits apiece.
Dixon did not walk a batter and registered five strikeouts to even his record at 1-1.
James Stiles drove in the Bucks’ run with a third-inning groundout.
The Chiefs will go on the Monday for their first game against JCL newcomer Marion Center and then host DuBois Tuesday.
