West Branch School Employee Waives Hearing in Sexual Assault Case

CLEARFIELD – The assistant technology coordinator for the West Branch Area School District has been accused of having sexual relations with a student.

Michael William Narehood, 23, of Karthaus has been charged by Trooper David Patrick of the Clearfield-based state police with felony involuntary deviate sexual intercourse-person less than 16 years of age (two counts); statutory sexual assault; aggravated indecent assault-complainant less than 16; school-intercourse/sexual contact with student; and corruption of minors, plus misdemeanor indecent assault person less than 16 years of age.

Narehood waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail. His bail has been set at $50,000 monetary.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, on May 10, the victim went to Narehood’s office after the school day. He allegedly started kissing her and then engaged in sexual acts with her.

During an interview, Narehood confessed to having sexual relations with the victim, state police said.
