UPDATED: One Dead After Lawrence Twp. House Fire

CLEARFIELD – One person is dead after a house fire Sunday night at 1907 Dorey Street Ext., in Lawrence Township, Clearfield County.

According to Coroner Kim Shaffer-Snyder, the fire claimed the life of 37-year-old James D. Tatum of Clearfield, and an autopsy has been scheduled for tonight.

The fire broke out at 9:37 p.m., and Tatum was trapped inside the home, said Cpl. Greg Agosti, Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal of the Ridgway barracks.

He said after Tatum was rescued by firefighters, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon investigation, Agosti determined that the fire was accidental in nature. Damage was estimated at approximately $90,000.

State police were assisted on-scene by the Lawrence Township police and fire departments and the Clearfield County Coroner’s Office.
