GRAMPIAN BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) – A concert to raise money for a scholarship honoring a local woman murdered in 2017 will be held in Grampian Park in Grampian Borough on June 1.
The Katrina Seaburn Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser Concert will be held in the Park from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 1.
The free concert will feature The Grampian Band, Megan McGarry, Steve Koval, Heather Olson and the Silver Eagle Band.
In addition to the concert, Katrina Seaburn’s mother, Tammy Seaburn, will be awarding a pair of scholarships in Katrina’s name to two Curwensville students on June 4.
This will be the second consecutive year scholarships have been awarded to Curwensville students in Katrina’s memory.
Seaburn, a 2013 Curwensville High School graduate, was murdered by her then-boyfriend, Damien Ditz, on March 1, 2017, in Clarion County just weeks before she was to graduate from Clarion University.
In a February of 2019 interview with exploreJeffersonpa.com, Tammy Seaburn said she wanted her daughter’s legacy to live on.
“I want to keep the memory of Katrina alive while helping to ensure that no one else has to go through what she went through,” Tammy Seaburn said during that interview.
“I want to be able to help other girls. I don’t want to see another girl go through what she went through. She was alone.
“Because of the domestic violence, her friends didn’t want to be a part of it, and she didn’t talk to her friends here (in Curwensville) about it. If I can prevent that, then I am doing great things to honor her.”
Editor’s Note: Anyone interested in supporting the scholarship in Katrina Seaburn’s name at Curwensville, should reach out to the Curwensville School District.
Donations can also be mailed to the school district at 650 Beech St., Curwensville, PA 16833, with a memo stating it is for the Katrina Seaburn Memorial Scholarship.
