CLEARFIELD – Bids for the Fourth and Market streets culvert project were opened during Thursday’s Clearfield Borough Council committee meeting.
The public works committee will recommend awarding R. Taylor Contracting of Goshen the project at a cost of $89,990.
Two resignations were regretfully accepted by the personnel committee during the committee meeting.
The first is for retirement for Assistant Police Chief Greg Neeper, who has served with the police department for 31 years.
Chief Vincent McGinnis said Neeper has done an outstanding job in the department and they are sorry to see him go.
The other resignation is from council member Heather Bozovich, who will be leaving council as of May 31.
Bozovich serves in Second Ward of the borough and letters of interest to fill the vacancy will be accepted by council. Council thanks Bozovich for her service and expressed regret at her leaving.
Code Enforcement Officer Larry Mack noted that clean-up work at Agway met with his approval by the deadline of the end of April. He said the owners are continuing to do more work, as they have seen an increase of business as the property’s appearance has improved, inspiring them to continue.
Residents are reminded of borough beautification day on May 18 beginning at the courthouse at 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome to attend and help with projects around the downtown.
Next week’s council meeting on May 16 will be held at 6 p.m. instead of the usual 7 p.m.
