CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre Inc. (CAST) is producing two major musicals this summer, and it’s looking for both student and adult actors.
The Lion King Jr. performances are July 11-13, 18-20 at 7:30 p.m. Audition dates will be May 13 and 14 from 6 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
CAST is seeking 25-32 talented student actors in grades 2-9 to fill various roles. Students are encouraged to audition, regardless of experience or involvement at CAST.
There is no registration fee to audition for or be part of this production. Audition materials, including sign-ups, forms, a parent letter, character breakdowns and excerpts from the script can be found by visiting www.ClearfieldArts.org/auditions.
During auditions, students will be placed into small groups and asked to sing 30 seconds of a song, learn a short dance and read from the script.
The Lion King Jr. is under the direction of Mason Strouse. Lisa Gormont serves as assistant director, with Dalton Condon as music director and Misti Bruner as choreographer.
Mamma Mia! performances are Aug. 8-10, 15-17 at 7:30 p.m. Auditions will be May 20 and 21. People who are current high-school graduates—18 as of Aug. 8, 2019—or older are eligible to audition.
Auditions begin at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. There are no time slots. Late arrivals—within reason—will be accepted. Those that need to leave early should let CAST know, so they can release you first.
If you must arrive after 8 p.m., or cannot make the scheduled days, please contact CAST, and they will make every effort to accommodate you.
Those interested in auditioning should come prepared to sing a Broadway-style song, your favorite ABBA or Mamma Mia! song or a pop song in a similar style.
A pianist will be available, as will selections from Mamma Mia! You will also be able to send YouTube links, and give CDs to the staff to use as accompaniment. You may bring your own accompanist as well.
More audition information can be found at www.ClearfieldArts.org/audition. Mamma Mia! will be directed by Robert Roxby. Music Director Gary Wilsoncroft and choreographer, Erica Hanes, will round out the creative team.
