DUBOIS – On May 19, the Free Medical Clinic of DuBois will host its seventh annual golf outing at the Treasure Lake Silver Course.

All proceeds from the outing go directly to patient care, supporting the Free Clinic’s mission to provide medical care and pharmaceutical services to uninsured or underinsured residents of the Tri-County Area.

Registration and a light lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with tee-off at 1 p.m. Teams are four-person scrambles with an entry fee of $350 per team, which includes greens fees, cart, catered dinner and prizes. Individuals may register for $100.

Anyone who registers by April 30 will also receive a special Mulligan package.

Free Clinic fundraising chair Kristine Gasbarre explains the significance of the 2019 golf outing. “Our teams and sponsors make a huge impact to our community when they come out and golf with us every year.

“By the end of February alone, our medical volunteers at the Free Clinic had already seen more than 300 patients in 2019 and provided a value of services worth $200,000.

“It’s important to emphasize that we take patients who don’t qualify for assistance, but still do not have insurance.”

The Free Clinic staff is also expanding their offerings to serve not just those who need medical care, but those who proactively want to optimize their health and longevity.

“We’re also growing our preventative health program, with a special focus right now on heart health, stroke prevention, and our Wellness Wednesdays blood pressure checks for anyone in the community,” Gasbarre says.

“We hope our golfers understand that by coming out to participate, they’re saving neighbors’ lives. That’s a big part of what makes this golf outing so special.”

Baskets for the Chinese auction and hole sponsors are also welcome. If you would like to participate in the golf outing, please contact the Free Clinic at 814-372-2200.

The Free Clinic is accepting new patients and open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please call for specific screening hours.
