Based on Edgar Rice Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes and the Disney-animated film, Tarzan tells the story of an infant boy orphaned on the shores of West Africa.
Taken in and raised by a tribe of gorillas, the young boy strives for acceptance by his ape father while grappling with his uniqueness.
When a human expedition enters their territory, Tarzan – now a man – encounters strangers like himself for the first time.
With heart-pumping music by rock legend Phil Collins, a book by Tony Award-winning playwright David Henry Hwang, Tarzan is a show for the entire family to enjoy.
The show includes veterans of the CHS Drama Club stage as well as some new faces. Tarzan is portrayed by newcomer Spencer Graham and Jane is played by veteran Katelynn Smith.
Joining the fun are Tarzan’s gorilla parents, Jace Kephart – no stranger to the stage at CHS – as Kerchak, first-time CHS Drama Club senior, Makeeli Redden as Kala and veteran Remington Shugarts as Tarzan’s best friend Terk.
They are part of the family with Mason Yocum as Jane’s father and Ryan Lazauskas as Clayton – both having seen time on the stage in previous CHS productions.
In a first for CHS, four elementary young men are joining the stage as Young Tarzan (Santana Maines), Young Terk (Owen Lykens) and gorillas (Sloan Rosinsky and Alex Wallace).
