DuBois City Council Details New Water Rate, Surcharge

DUBOIS – DuBois City water customers will soon notice a new rate and a surcharge on their bills.

Customers whose usage is up to 100,000 gallons will pay $7 per 1,000 gallons of water.  Customers whose usage is 100,001 or over will pay $4 per 1,000 gallons.

Each bill will also include a surcharge to help cover principal and interest amounts on debt related to water construction projects.

Council noted that the surcharge will be dependent upon the size of the customer’s meter (please see the chart below).

Inch Size of Meter Monthly Fee
5/8 – 3/4 $10.00
1 $15.00
1.4 $44.00
2 $69.00
3 $113.00
4 $219.00
6 $282.00
8 $375.00

Council said for DuBois’ residential customers, this means $1 per 1,000 gallons of water.  Their meter surcharge will increase from $8 to $10 per month.

Council indicated that municipal customers, such as Falls Creek and Sandy Township, will not be affected by the new rate and surcharge.
