UPDATED: One Dead Following Tractor-trailer Crash on I-80

COOPER TOWNSHIP – One person is dead following a tractor-trailer crash Tuesday on Interstate 80 in Cooper Township, Clearfield County.

According to Clearfield-based state police, the crash occurred at approximately 8:20 a.m. on I-80 westbound at mile-marker 134 near the Philipsburg-Kylertown exit.

State police say the tractor-trailer was traveling in the right-hand lane, and for unknown reasons, it left the roadway via the right berm and struck a ditch.

The tractor-trailer continued traveling west until colliding with a traffic sign and guiderails. Then, it overturned onto its passenger’s side in the middle of the right lane.

The driver, a 48-year-old New Jersey man identified as Charles F. Davey Jr., was transported to the Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the Clearfield County Coroner.

Morris Township and Winburne fire departments, PennDOT, Moshannon Valley Emergency Medical Services and towing services assisted at the scene.
