Karen Kleinosky of Lower Yoder Township has announced her candidacy for Cambria County Clerk of Courts. She is a life-long resident of Cambria County.

She is currently a branch manager for First National Bank and has spent the majority of her career in the financial industry. She graduated from Richland High School.

She has one son, Justin. He and his wife, Lisa reside in Altoona. Being an animal lover, she will laughingly tell you that her grandchildren have fur.

Kleinosky has served as a board member of the YWCA.  In 2018 she was the recipient of the YWCA Yellow Rose Award, recognizing her achievements for women’s empowerment.

She is a foundation board member at Penn Highlands Community College and serves as their treasurer.

Kleinosky holds membership in the Atta Girls Golf League and the Cover to Cover Book Club.  She plays an instrumental role in organizing and managing the annual YWCA Women’s Golf Tournament, which is in its 14th year.

She is a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Johnstown.

Kleinosky recently changed her political party affiliation.  She considers herself a moderate and feels that her previous party no longer represents her views and values, especially with regard to abortion.

“I am a strong advocate for women, but cannot support third trimester abortion.  I prefer adoption as opposed to abortion, but also will defend a woman’s right to choose.  Change in politics at the national level begins at the local level,” she says.

“I decided to seek public office because I enjoy daily interaction with people.  My background in the financial industry has given me a strong attention to detail.

“I think detail is extremely important in carrying out the duties assigned to the Clerk of Courts.”
