CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County Commissioner Mark B. McCracken will not seek re-election at the end of his current term.

He made his announcement to members of the news media following Tuesday’s commissioners’ meeting.

McCracken issued the following statement on his decision:

“At the end of 2019, I will have almost 32 years of service with Clearfield County Government, serving as IT Director from 1988 to 2004 and then as county commissioner since.

“During that time, I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with some extraordinary people and serve the citizens of Clearfield County.

“I want to thank everyone who has given me support and encouragement over the years. While I announce this now, there are still 10 months remaining in my term and I expect it will be a very busy year in county government.

“After the November election, I will look forward to having a smooth transition with the person the voters select to take my place as county commissioner.”
