CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield school board is considering a subscription and services renewal for its currently-used student information system.

At Monday night’s committee meeting, Superintendent Terry Struble presented a four-year contract agreement with SapphireK12 Software to the board and recommended its approval.

If approved, the subscription fees would be as follows: $53,353 for 2019-20; $54,695 for 2020-21; $56,077 for 2021-22; and $57,500 for 2022-23.

Struble pointed out that the fee would increase 2.4 to 2.5 percent annually over the period of the contract. However, he said the support services fee would not and would remain at $2,300.

Board member Gail Ralston asked Struble if it would be possible for the district to have its contract include additional tools to analyze student data.

Struble explained those components are already there with such capabilities to write reports. He said the district hired a software specialist who will enter all the student data in the future.

“These tools are already there as part of our package,” Struble said. “It’s a matter of getting our students’ data there and using [Sapphire] a little bit better.”

In other business, Struble reported that the administration would likely hold off on making any changes to the current-year’s school calendar.

He said there isn’t any changes that can be made between February and March, and they would like to avoid adjusting the calendar now, and then possibly again next month.
