Local business owner, Dave Glass, has announced his candidacy for Clearfield County Commissioner, seeking the Democratic party nomination in the upcoming May primary.
Glass owns and operates Allstate Insurance in Clearfield, a family-run agency serving the area since 1955.
He also served as a member of the Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors from 2008 until 2013 and was president of the school board for the last four years of his tenure there.
Due in large part to decisions made under Glass’ leadership, the district recently enjoyed eight consecutive years of budget surpluses and no tax increases.
Born and raised in Clearfield, Glass is a 1992 Clearfield Area High School graduate. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in computer science from Penn State in 1997, and pursued a career in software design in Washington, D.C. upon graduation.
He returned to Clearfield in 2000, joining the family business, eventually taking over the insurance agency in 2009.
In 2015, Glass married Jessica Mondi and the couple has made their home in DuBois, along with four of their sons: David, 17; Darin, 16; Jeremiah, 13; and Noble, 11.
An active member of local communities, Glass can also be heard offering commentary for Clearfield Wrestling on Passport 98.5 FM, as well as for DuBois Beavers Football on 102.1 Bigfoot Country.
In the past, he has also refereed high school and junior high football, and served as a little league and youth soccer coach. He continues to officiate baseball, softball and hockey locally.
As county commissioner, Glass says he will passionately champion job growth and the health of the local economy, and use his experience gained on the school board to help balance budgets and keep taxes low.
He will address environmental issues and fight for clean water and air locally. Glass is also eager to support education in Clearfield County, and the school districts and institutions that provide educational opportunities.
He supports a variety of educational options and believes that allowing individuals to pursue what works for them is always best. This includes public schools, trade schools, college and more.
