Sankey Appointed Deputy Chairman of House Majority Policy Committee

HARRISBURG – The duties of state Rep. Tommy Sankey (R-Clearfield/Cambria) in the 2019-20 session will include serving as deputy chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, according to Chairman Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion/Armstrong/Forest).

“Rep. Sankey’s work ethic and common sense are evident in the bills he sponsors and champions here in the House,” Oberlander said. “I am eager for him to help us dive into the policies that will help our communities thrive and our people prosper.”

The House Majority Policy Committee conducts hearings and roundtable discussions about important statewide and regional issues that matter most to Pennsylvania citizens; gathers testimony and information from key stakeholders; and works within the House Republican Caucus to develop policies to address those issues.

The Policy Committee also works in tandem with the speaker and majority leader to examine and refine critical pieces of legislation in advance of floor consideration.

“It is an honor to be asked to serve my colleagues and all Pennsylvanians in this manner,” said Sankey. “Learning the issues that are important outside his or her district is essential for any state legislator.

“Serving on this committee, along with establishing relationships with members on both sides of the aisle from across the state, will help me gain valuable knowledge and allow me to better do my job.”

Sankey is serving his fourth full term in office, his third in service to Pennsylvania’s 73rd Legislative District after representing the 74th District in his first term.

Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Sankey’s Clearfield office at 814-756-0609 or his Hastings office at 814-247-6210.
