DUBOIS – DuBois City Council continued to refine its parking requirements Monday night.
Council members have developed a system for obtaining a permit for off-street parking. People must also park their vehicles with the flow of traffic.
Further, when parking is off-the-street, they must still park their vehicles in the same direction, as when they parallel park along the roadway.
Officials will grant permits only if an approved parking area or driveway has been constructed and then inspected by a current city code enforcement officer or engineer.
It was noted that a person’s driveway or parking area must comply with the following requirements, which include:
- using approved curb cuts.
- being bituminous, concrete or clean 2B limestone.
- meeting any additional requirements listed on the permit.
In order to obtain the permit to construct a driveway or parking area, it was noted that the location must not:
- be within 25 feet of a crosswalk, fire hydrant or intersection.
- create a disturbance for other vehicles or pedestrians.
Council also discussed plans to make parts of Wood Street open to parking along one side of the roadway only.
