Munson Artist’s Paintings on Exhibit at Shaw Library

CLEARFIELD – The Susquehanna River Art Center of Clearfield (SRACC) is showcasing artwork done by Ben Saggese of Munson through December.

Saggese is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and is a self-taught painter. He’s won many awards, including from SRACC’s annual juried art show, Saint Vincent Kennedy Hall Gallery, Latrobe, Southern Allegheny Museum of Art and Art in Common, Altoona, plus many others.

He now has 54 paintings on exhibit at the Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, located at the corner of Market and Front streets in Clearfield.

Visitors are encouraged to study Saggese’s paintings, which are known to have additional impressions.

He was an art instructor at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale. He served many years as the art superintendent for the Clearfield County Fair.

Saggese has also taught art classes at SRACC and Clearfield Arts Studio Theatre, as well as at the 1901 church that’s become his home and the “Saggese Gallery” in Munson.

Saggese resides in Munson with his wife, Minerva.
