The origin of this photo is unknown to the Clearfield County Historical Society.
It is purported to show some sort of trained bear act in Wallaceton, a small borough adjacent to Boggs Township.
The photo is likely from the 1890’s. The spectators, especially the kids, look apprehensive.
It is questionable, due to the times, of how expertly the bears would have been trained.
It is doubtful that they were given the humane and ethical treatment that animals, certainly those used for entertainment purposes, are now legally required to receive.
