CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) has released details on its Holiday Promotion Series: Shop Clearfield for Christmas.
Holly Days Shop Walk
The CRC will kick off its shop local promotions with its second-ever “Holly Days Shop Walk.” It will be held Friday, Nov. 16 and Saturday, Nov. 17 downtown.
Participating merchants will offer specials, open house events, giveaways and more.
Shoppers can stop in The Liddle Gallery to paint a Christmas ornament from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Nov. 17. There will also be specials throughout the Clearfield Pharmacy & Gift Shoppe.
A Clearfield Gives Thanks Service of Gratefulness by the Clearfield Ministerium will be held at 12 p.m. Nov. 16 at the St. John Lutheran Church, located at 217 E. Pine St.
Also, there will be a Lularoe Extravaganza to benefit the Clearfield Business & Professional Women’s Club, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Nov. 17 at the Trinity United Methodist Church Parish Hall
12 Days of Clearfield for Christmas
On Nov. 14, Clearfield area students will visit downtown to decorate many storefront windows with holiday scenes. Afterward, the CRC will begin its “12 Days of Clearfield for Christmas.”
This Facebook promotion will showcase various items that can be purchased locally for people on your holiday shopping list. It will run Nov. 24 – Dec. 7 on the CRC’s Facebook Page.
Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday is Nov. 24, and the CRC would like to encourage people to shop with the merchants downtown, which will offer sales promotions.
The CRC will also provide free gifts for merchants to share with their patrons who shop local on Small Business Saturday.
CRC Main Street Manager Loretta Wagner is encouraging area residents to shop local merchants for a more personalized holiday shopping experience and to boost the local economy.
“If everyone committed to purchasing at least one gift locally this holiday season, Clearfield would see a great impact,” Wagner commented.
Holiday Light-Up
The Holiday Light-up Celebration will be hosted by the CRC, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Clearfield County Courthouse plaza.
The CRC would like to invite families, organizations, churches and other groups to craft ornaments for the community Christmas tree.
Ornaments must be durable and weatherproof for use outdoors for at least six weeks in wet and wintry conditions. They should also be decorated with colorful materials that, if possible, are reflective.
To minimize environmental impact, ornament-makers are encouraged to use wood or recycled materials.
Ornaments should be eight to 10 inches in size, light weight and light in color and relatively simple in design, so they can be enjoyed from a distance.
Also, they must be ready for hanging with a heavy wire attached to the top corners. Ornament-makers are encouraged to add their name, organization and the year on the backs of their ornaments.
Those made of glass or other breakable materials cannot be accepted; those contributed will not be returned.
The Clearfield Bison Band and the Clearfield Art Studio Theatre (CAST) will provide musical entertainment during the holiday light-up celebration.
The CRC would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
