The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is alerting motorists that a closed section of Route 53 in Clearfield County will remain closed until further notice.
Although local/limited traffic can use the roadway, no through traffic is permitted on Route 53 between Interstate 80 at Kylertown and the Clearfield/Centre County line.
PennDOT had planned to open the road to one-lane this week and use temporary traffic signals, but recent severe storms have made it necessary to reevaluate the condition of the slope.
In the interest of public safety, the road will remain closed until further evaluation can be completed.
PennDOT encourages drivers to “Know before they go” and to check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by visiting www.511PA.com.
