Area Fire Companies Battle Grocery Store Blaze

 

GRAMPIAN – On Tuesday night, several area fire companies battled a second-alarm structure fire at Holt Grocery store, located at 213 Main St., in Grampian.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal’s report, the store closed at 7 p.m., and smoke was observed at approximately 8:19 p.m.

Upon arrival to the scene, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions along the rear interior of the store. Damage is expected to exceed $500,000, state police say.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

Two firefighters were injured while fighting the fire with one being treated and released on scene. The other was transported to Clearfield Penn Highlands Hospital for evaluation.
