JUST IN: Clearfield Man Jailed for Leading State Police on High-speed Pursuit

CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield man has been jailed after reportedly leading state police on a high-speed pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

Calvin Odell Watson, 45, has been charged by Clearfield-based state police with fleeing or attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering another person and 49 related summary traffic violations through the district court.

State police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on state Route 879 in Lawrence Township but say Watson fled. He continued onto Interstate 80 eastbound and traveled at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

State police say Watson fled for 13 miles on I-80 before getting off at the Kylertown exit. There, he traveled through a stop sign onto SR 53 south, at which point troopers successfully terminated the pursuit with “legal intervention.”

Watson attempted to flee on foot but was quickly taken into custody.   He has been arraigned and lodged in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.
