CLEARFIELD – An Indiana man accused of entering two Lawrence Township homes while he was allegedly under the influence waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday during centralized court.
Shawn A. Kruies, 32, is charged with two felony counts of criminal trespass and two misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct as a result of his actions on June 18 on Dairy Lane.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, police received a report of a suspicious male sitting on the back porch of the callers residence, who was “not acting right” and carrying shopping bags full of clothing.
The victim said the man also entered his garage and outside shed. In response to the man’s unusual behavior, the victim’s family had locked themselves in a bedroom.
After police arrived, they secured the shed and discovered the man was gone.
The victim explained that the man stood at the back of the residence and would not leave. The man then went into his shed and garage.
The victim’s wife said he told her that he had just gotten out of jail and people were looking for him.
While police were searching the area for the man, another victim on Joseph Road came out of their residence to report that a man with the same description, just walked into the rear part of her residence.
He had to be escorted out by her brother. She said he walked toward Parkview Drive.
Later she realized the man had left bags of clothing at her home and reported this to police.
The officer going through the bags reportedly found multiple medicine bottles with the name Shawn A. Kruies on them.
About an hour later a man fitting the description given by the victims, was spotted near the Nichols Street Bridge.
An officer spoke with him there and after the man identified himself as Shawn Kruies, he was taken into custody.
Kruies told police he knew he was going to be wanted by state parole because he was supposed to report to Tomorrow’s Hope in Coalport, and did not make it there, according to the report.
