DuBois City Approves Liquor License Request for Charlie’s

DuBois– The City of DuBois’ City Council voted to approve Charlie’s request for a liquor license.  According to Charlie Kutsel, the restaurant acquired the liquor license in a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Auction.

Councilmember Edward Walsh asked Kutsel what type of alcohol the restaurant would be selling.  Specifically asking about beer and liquor.

“It’s the whole deal.  Yeah, the whole deal,” said Kutsel.

When asked, Kutsel said that the license would allow the restaurant to sell six packs, but the restaurant did not plan on selling six packs at the time.

Charlie’s is a restaurant on Main Street in DuBois with 92 seats.  They sell subs, hoagies, steak dinners, chicken, seafood and more.

“The front of the building will soon be open.  It’ll be a New York style deli,” said Kutsel.

“To be honest, having been open since February I’ll need the extra income to stay open,” said Kutsel.

Kutsel answered when asked that he hasn’t been hearing any objections to selling alcohol, but instead has been hearing from people asking when.  That potential customers have been saying they haven’t been coming to the restaurant since it doesn’t sell alcohol.

Councilmember Jim Aughenbaugh was excused from the meeting.
